Oud-rechercheur Erik Bäckström woont in een villa in het bos en heeft zichzelf sinds enkele jaren afgesloten van de buitenwereld met enkel zijn hond genaamd Bella. Op een dag besluit hij een mijnbouwer te helpen die wordt geterroriseerd door overijverige milieu-demonstranten. Echter, voordat hij het weet zit hij tot z'n nek in de ellende.
