Geïnspireerd door waargebeurde verhalen, portretteert de film de Braziliaanse plek die bekendstaat om de huisvesting van mensen die veroordeeld zijn voor spraakmakende misdaden, en verkent de levens van verschillende criminelen in de gevangenis. Onder hen zijn Suzane von Richthofen, Daniel Cravinhos en Christian Cravinhos, veroordeeld voor de moord op von Richthofens ouders, en Anna Jatobá en Alexandre Nardoni, veroordeeld voor de moord op Isabella Nardoni.
