Laura komt niets tekort. Ze heeft een glansrijke carrière, een liefhebbende echtgenoot, Howard, en bovenal Daniel, haar dierbare enige zoon. Maar Laura's ogenschijnlijk perfecte leven wordt overhoop gegooid wanneer Daniel Cherry mee naar huis neemt, de vriendin die alles verandert. Na een ongemakkelijke eerste ontmoeting raakt Laura ervan overtuigd dat Cherry niet is wie ze zegt te zijn.
