Oregon, 1898. Print Ritter, zijn neef Tom Harte en Heck Gilpin moeten een kudde van zo'n 500 paarden afleveren in Sheridan, Ohio. Ze worden ongewild de beschermers van vijf mishandelde en in de steek gelaten Chinese meisjes. Hun pogingen om de meisjes zo goed mogelijk te beschermen worden bemoeilijkt doordat ze onderweg te maken krijgen met diverse outlaws, waaronder de medogenloze 'Big Ears', die de meisjes willen ontvoeren om ze af te leveren bij de bordeelhoudster 'Big Rump' Kate.
